Scope

5 variants · 4 formats · 20 SKUs

Five ingredients,
one shelf.

Challenge

Bio Active sells the same four haircare formats — mask, serum, conditioner, shampoo — across five completely different active ingredients. Charcoal, rosemary, protein, argan and caviar have nothing visually in common, and a range built variant-first would have arrived on shelf as five unrelated brands sharing a name.

Approach

We fixed everything except the ingredient. The bottle stays black. The Bio Active wordmark sits at the shoulder with its gold rule and the True Care line beneath it, at the same size on every pack. Below that, the format name runs in heavy caps with Nourishing above it and the variant in a coloured chip.

The one thing that changes is the photograph. Each variant carries a full-bleed image of its own active ingredient, bled off the label edge, and the cap and chip take a colour pulled straight out of that photograph.

Process

Twenty SKUs were drawn once as a single master artwork with the ingredient photograph on its own layer, then rendered as five shelf sets before any tooling was committed. The icon row at the base — sulphate free, colour safe, cruelty free — is identical across the range, so the regulatory block never has to be re-approved per variant.

Result

A shelf you can read in one pass.

Because only the photograph changes, a shopper finds the format first and the ingredient second — which is the order they actually shop in. Adding a sixth variant costs one photograph and one colour, not a redesign.
